Anyone else cry at drop-off and then order a full breakfast twenty minutes later?

First day of school is officially done. There was not a dry eye when I dropped her off this morning. Drove straight to Mavericks in Gananoque and had the full traditional breakfast — eggs, meat, home fries, the works. Did a little shopping just because the day called for it, then took the scenic route home along the parkway and snuck in some blog writing before pickup.

Dock dogs, a playground afternoon, grabbing pizza for dinner, a little shopping, and fireworks that finally happened after two rain-outs — this was our last big "just because" day before the school bell rings Wednesday.

Some seasons end quietly. This one went out with a bang.

No daycare today — my daughter wasn't feeling well

No daycare today — my daughter wasn't feeling well. But we still swung by to drop off the teacher gifts (mission accomplished 🎁), and she was feeling good enough for a dinner at 1000 Islands Brewery, then an evening Princess cruise on the water.
Sometimes the plan changes and it still turns into a good day.

How do you say goodbye to the place that helped raise your daughter for the last two years?

This week we say goodbye to daycare. I keep catching myself getting emotional over the smallest things — her cubby, her teachers, the drop-off routine we've done a hundred times. It's a good kind of hard.
